Edukasi Masyarakat melalui Penyuluhan tentang Tanda Gejala dan Pencegahan Kanker Serviks
Abstract
Background: Cervical cancer, also known as cervical cancer, is a type of cancer that is 99.7% caused by the oncogenic human papillomavirus (HPV), which attacks the cervix. At-risk groups for cervical cancer include women over 30 who have had many children and who have poor reproductive health practices. Having multiple sexual partners is a major factor in the transmission of the HPV virus, which causes cervical cancer.
Methods: This study used a descriptive design with a one-group pretest–posttest approach. The sample consisted of 20 respondents, selected using total sampling. Data were collected using pretest and posttest questionnaires. The intervention was conducted through health education using lecture and discussion methods with leaflet and poster media. Data were analyzed descriptively.
Results: Pretest results showed that 55% of respondents had poor knowledge, 30% had moderate knowledge, and 15% had good knowledge. After the intervention, posttest results indicated an improvement, with 70% of respondents having good knowledge, 25% moderate knowledge, and only 5% poor knowledge.
Conclusion: Health education was effective in improving women’s knowledge about cervical cancer and should be continuously implemented as a promotive and preventive strategy for cervical cancer prevention.
